The World of Disney’s Frozen comes to life in an exciting new match 3 puzzle adventure. Join Elsa, Anna and Olaf as you build and renovate the Kingdom in a brand new mobile game based on Disney’s Frozen & Frozen 2 movies. Design and decorate the Kingdom of Arendelle and beyond! 

Explore and embark on an all-new Frozen adventure that takes you to new and familiar locations around Arendelle and the entire Frozen world. Play hundreds of match-3 games and earn snowflakes to decorate the castle and make it look amazing!

Frozen Adventures began production in Spring 2018. I oversaw all aspects of art and animation. I assembled and led a small art team that worked very closely with Walt Disney Feature Animation to bring the world of Frozen to mobile devices. When the creative team transferred production to Jam City, I stayed with the project to maintain a smooth transition and ensure milestones were met.

When concepting the gameplay, we really wanted to be immersed and exploring the rich world outside of Arendelle. We explored so many ideas, including the characters interacting with the game boards and causing environmental effects. Partnering with Feature Animation really helped to clarify the themes from Frozen 2 and artistic vision. We paired down some of the broader ideas, and focused on compelling storytelling and solid match3 gameplay.

Matchables are a huge part of any Match3 gameplay. We explored various concepts of different matchables, but circled back to the ice crystals from Frozen Free Fall. We updated the shapes and colors palette to aline with Frozen 2’s esthetic, as well as modernizing obstacles to current mobile game standards.

One of my goals for this game was to feel as close to the film as possible, and authentically represent the world of Frozen. I pushed the team to make the characters and environments film-quality, while still being optimized for performance. We optimized production by reusing rigs for similar body types. I oversaw all character and game animation, providing feedback on everything from storyboards to in-game renders.

A core pillar of the game was expanding the world of Frozen, and leveraging ideas and stories from all aspects of the Walt Disney Company. We introduced more rooms of the castle than ever seen in the films, expanding the locations and kingdom of Arendelle, while adding new and exciting characters to fill that world.
